Our team of Hospitality professionals bring a wealth of experience from previous roles in film, television and the creative arts, strength coaching and nutrition, sports, fitness and education, the legal bench, boutique hotel management, farming and agriculture, international training from Britain’s finest gastropubs and classical French maître pâtissier. Our team is proudly diverse, with team members from many differing cultural backgrounds and walks of life. We are glad to be upskilling the next generation to establish an ongoing level of excellence for many years to come.

We proudly work as a team to bring you the best product, there are many hands that work together; almost every facet of our operation has a human behind it to ensure that everything is in its place. We pride ourselves on working with local providores to source the best produce that NSW has to offer; we believe that fantastic produce, simply prepared, speaks volumes. We are an inclusive team and delight in our differences, we’re joined together by a desire to create and deliver beautiful, honest food, made with love. In the spirit of reconciliation, The Catering Department acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia, and their connections to land, sea and community. Head Chef Ross Ku, bringing more than 18 years of experience across some of Sydney's most respected restaurants, luxury hotels and event venues. His career includes senior roles at Opera Bar with Chef Matt Moran, Peter Doyle at The Quay, the Pullman Hotel Group and Amora Hotel Jamison, where he led large kitchen brigades and developed innovative seasonal menus. A proud family man and master organiser, Ross combines calm leadership with refined culinary expertise, leading The Catering Dept's kitchen team to deliver exceptional catering experiences for corporate events, festivals and major productions.

Young Actors Assembly 04/07/2026

Honestly, I don’t know how we’d pull off a shoot like this without The Catering Department. Early call times, long days, hundreds of people to feed, and a lot of young people who need fresh, quality food to stay energised and focused. It’s a lot to manage on top of everything else that goes into a production like this. TCD has taken that whole worry off our plate. Every meal has been fresh, genuinely delicious, and right on time, without fail. There’s something really special about a team that just shows up and delivers like that, day after day, without you ever having to think twice about it. We are so grateful to have them supporting this production. Can’t recommend them highly enough!

If I could rate more than 5 stars I would. We had the pleasure of working with The Catering Dept during a very crucial time for our service, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their support. They provided regular catered meals to our residents in our homeless shelter, and the quality was consistently excellent. Our residents really enjoyed the food it made a real difference to their day-to-day experience and wellbeing. What stood out just as much was their support of our staff as well. The team were responsive, reliable, and went out of their way to make things easier for us during a very high-pressure period. Highly recommend The Catering Dept not just for the delicious food, but for their professionalism and genuine care for their customers. Looking forward to working with The Catering Dept in the future!

This wasn’t just disappointing — it was reckless, careless, and absolutely unacceptable. When a customer specifically orders Vegetarian or Vegan food, it’s not a suggestion — it’s a clear instruction. It is basic common sense that such food must be packed separately, clearly labeled, and handled with care. Instead, my vegetarian meal was shoved into the same box as meat items, completely contaminating it.

We had a great experience with Catering Dept at our recent event at Hub Australia. Fernando, the Smooth Operator, came in the day before to walk us through the whole plan, which really put us at ease. His preparation and attention made a big difference. On the day, everything ran smoothly. The food was delicious, the presentation was impressive, and the service was spot on. The waitstaff were well dressed, respectful, and paid close attention to the details throughout the event. The rest of the team was also excellent. Communication over email was clear and organised. They outlined everything we needed to consider and even reminded me to arrange extra meals for guests with dietary or allergy needs, which was a big help while I was juggling other event tasks. Professional team, flawless delivery. Would definitely recommend.

We worked with The Catering Department on a five-week film shoot, feeding upwards to 90 people multiple times per day across the shoot. Their team are warm, efficient, and excellent at problem-solving. Plus, they make delicious meals! Highly recommend them for complex catering needs!

I used the Catering Department for pre wedding catering last week and from variety online to ordering and email communication to delivery on the day, the process was seamless. The food was delivered safely and on time the driver was personable and delivered right into the venue. The presentation was lovely and the food was just as ordered. Very happy and would absolutely recommend.

The Catering Dept was great. I utilised their services for a morning tea at work. Their website makes placing an order simple and easy. The tax invoice is easily accessible through their platform and the catering was delivered slightly ahead of schedule - so smooth, so easy!
